London Club Wear

RB1520Polka-1During college I spent a semester studying in London. Our first weekend in the city, I went with several of my roommates to a club downtown. Where I’m from, typical club wear is skinny jeans and a dressy top, so that’s what I wore to the club. As we arrived in the line, I quickly realized that I was under dressed.

The girls in front of us in line were wearing their best sexy short skirts and mini-dresses in bright bold colors. Their heels seemed miles high, as did their hair. I made it through the night, but vowed the next time we went out on the town I would adhere to the local dress code.

Spring Cleaning for Your Closet

SK105-2TAs the warmer months creep closer and closer, people are starting to emerge from their winter stupor. This also means they are starting to consider spring cleaning. Enacting an “out with the old, in with the new attitude,” people will start to diligently scrub basements and clean out garages. And this same attitude should be applied to your winter wardrobe. The dark and heavy colors, textures, and fabrics from December should be banished to the spare closet (or thrift store), and new, lighter products should be added in their place.

For new purchases, just remember that lighter colors should dominate your spring palette, and this should be equally true in your clothing as your accessories. To that end, celebrate the new spring by buying yourself a pair of amethyst earrings. Just make sure they are pale amethyst rather than a dark, rich purple. These pale amethyst earrings will be the perfect accent to a flirty summer micro mini skirt or a light, floral designed blouse, and it will really help you get in the mood for the new season.

What Goes Around Comes Around…In Fashion

micro-miniAs fashion is concerned, it amazes me how things tend to come around full circle. No matter what genre it is or what decade the year was, fashion has a way of coming back. Whether it is overalls or leg warmers, there is always a new spin on things. Fashion designers are always reinventing the styles of clothing.

The micro mini skirt is one type of clothing that is coming back. You can see this type of trend especially when summer starts. The most popular is the little black micro mini. Black is the favorite color in many articles of clothing, it gives a more slimmed down feel to a woman’s figure.

Accessory Must-Haves For The New Season

micro-mini-skirtsThe changing of the season to spring is always an exciting time. Not only is the weather improving (or at least on its way to improving), but it also means that the fashion season is about to change over as well. Out are the woolen sweaters and high waist trousers of winter, and in are the flirty flats and knee length skirts of spring. And because the main cache of clothes is changing, that means the fashion accessories have to change accordingly. While accessories are much more season flexible than clothes, there are certain spring specific accessories that should start making a more prominent appearance.

As the weather turns nicer, don’t be surprised if pastel colors start popping up everywhere. While winter is usually dominated by black boots, spring is the time for lemon yellow stilettos or robin egg blue patent leather flats. It’s also a great time to bust out those pashminas and shawls that have just been sitting in your drawers. They add just enough warmth when it’s too cold for nothing and too warm for a coat. In the summer time the micro mini skirt makes it’s big debut.

Wardrobe Faux Pas

WildChildMiniSkirtThe mini skirt has been popular ever since its debut in the early 1960s. Since that time girls and women of all ages have enjoyed wearing the little skirts that show off their gams. But, many women may wonder whether there’s an age at which they should stop donning their favorite mini dresses.

It goes without saying that whether or not to wear a mini depends of the condition of one’s body –if your legs aren’t your best asset then you may want to cover them up a bit more. A marketing professional in Britain thought it would be a good idea to run a survey in order to shed some light on this question.

The overwhelming answer was that women should pack away their mini skirts at the age of 28. Some other interesting responses were also garnered from the survey of women. Bikinis? Women should not wear them after 48. Tubes tops should not grace a woman’s closet if she’s over 33. Remove those belly-button piercings when you turn 36. And, long hair is no longer in fashion for ladies over 52.
